The Art Museum neighborhood-named after the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the area's most prominent building-is just a few blocks away from Philly's Central Business District and from the banks of the Schuylkill River. If you're a fitness buff, then you'll love jogging or biking down the picturesque length of nearby Kelly Drive-or you could run up and down the famed Art Museum steps ala Rocky (whose statue can be found at the bottom). While you're there, get a cultural workout as well: drop in and catch an exhibit.
Outside, the museum's numerous gardens are great spots for unwinding and enjoying a few minutes of peace and quiet. If you're in a more social mood, step out from behind your tree and meet our neighbors-the museum grounds are a popular gathering place. Alternatively, you could head towards the Schuylkill and find out what a scull is, or maybe even get in one.
Adjacent to the Art Museum neighborhood is Logan Circle, otherwise known as Logan Square. Though the name refers to the open-space park in the middle of the square, the area also contains much of the Central Business District, and is the location of several topnotch museums and educational facilities like the Academy of Natural Sciences, Franklin Institute, Philadelphia Free Library, and Please Touch Museum. You can take your pick of the numerous condos and lofts scattered around the area, all with easy access to parks, medical centers, and shops. Parking is also convenient-though with everything close at hand, you really won't be needing your car that often.
